The first ever F.O.C.S. field day will be held on Wednesday, November 4th at 11a.m. With the kind permission of member Gus Murray to visit his varied and interesting plantations at Coolmountain, Dunmanway, Co.Cork.

Gus began planting in 1987 and over 10 years established more than 60 hectares of mixed forest. Gus has a keen interest in his plantations, takes a “hands on” approach and has never been afraid to try different ideas.

In attendance will be some experienced foresters to demonstrate different aspects of timber production and to guide and answer questions. The event will consist of a forest walk followed by refreshments around one o clock.

The event will be signposted from junction of Togher Cross and the R585 and is open to all forest owners.

Members will shortly receive details of this event.
